9. Cassia semifalcata Vell., Fl. Flumin. T View in CoL 4: 167. 1829.
Type:—“Habitat silvis maritimis” (lectotype designated here: tab. 68, T. 4 [illustration], in Fl. Flumin. T.4. 1831[“1827”]). Lectotype available at: https://digital.bbm.usp.br/view/?45000009111&bbm/4266#page/70/mode/2up
Accepted name. Senna multijuga subsp. lindleyana (Gardner) H.S. Irwin & Barneby (1982: 498) .
Notes. Cassia semifalcata was proposed as a new species by Vellozo (1829: 167) without any indication of the holotype. As such, and following the recommendations of articles 9.11 and 9.12 of the ICNB ( Turland et al. 2018), we are designating the illustration presented by Vellozo tab. 68, in Fl. Flumin., T. 4, 1831[“1827”]) as the lectotype of Cassia semifalcata , as that illustration contemplates all of the characters presented in the protologue, no type material was referred to in the original description, and no specimen used by Vellozo has been located.
