Cancellaria puschi Semper, 1861 View in CoL
The name was introduced by Semper (1861) as replacement name for Cancellaria citharella Pusch, 1837 (non Cancellaria citharella Lamarck, 1822 ). The illustration in Pusch (1837) shows a fusiform shell, which is reminiscent of a buccinid. A pitfall of the Pusch collection is the dubious origin of some shells. Eocene material from the Paris Basin, as well as Recent shells, were mixed with Miocene collections (Harzhauser et al. 2008).
