Diagnosis. Recognized by its medium size; rather deep green general coloration when alive ( Figs. 5 View FIGURE 5 F −G); wide head; large, dark, apical spot on antennal segment I; short labium that is not exceeding middle of mesocoxa ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 ); and clear ventral spots of all femora. A combination of these characters enables to be distinguished this new species from any other Oriental relatives.
Description. Body generally rather deep green in fresh specimen, oval, moderate in size; dorsal surface shining, with uniformly distributed, dark brown, simple, semierect setae. Head wide; vertex rather wide. Antenna pale brown; segment I with a large, dark spot apically; base of segment II clearly darkened; segments III and IV somewhat darker. Labium shiny pale brown, short, reaching base to middle of mesocoxa ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 ); apical half of segment IV chocolate brown. Hemelytron tinged with white or subhyaline, shiny; membrane smoky brown, with pale brown veins. Leg pale brownish green; ventral surface of each femur clearly spotted; all tarsi brown. Abdomen viridescent. Male genitalia ( Figs. 10−11 View FIGURE 10 View FIGURE 11 ): Phallotheca L-shaped. Endosoma sigmoid, not bifurcate, with tapered, saw-edged apical part. Female genitalia ( Fig. 12 View FIGURE 12 ): Bursa copulatrix wide; sclerotized rings circular, laterally with somewhat thickened rim.
Measurements (♂/♀): Total body length 2.3−2.5/ 2.2−2.5; length from apex of clypeus to cuneal fracture 1.65−1.71/ 1.52−1.73; width of head across eyes 0.68−0.72/ 0.62−0.68; width of vertex 0.22−0.24/ 0.28−0.30; lengths of antennal segments I-IV 0.13−0.16, 0.58−0.62, 0.33−0.38, 0.25−0.27/ 0.13−0.15, 0.50−0.57, 0.34−0.36, 0.25−0.28; mesal length of pronotum 0.38−0.42/ 0.36−0.45; basal width of pronotum 0.86−0.88/ 0.91−0.93; maximum width across hemelytron 0.99−1.07/ 1.11−1.14; and lengths of metafemur, tibia and tarsus 0.81−0.84, 1.26−1.29, 0.34−0.37/ 0.82−0.86, 1.20−1.28, 0.34−0.38.
Etymology. From a Thai noun, Pimai (= New Year’s Day), as many individuals of this new species were collected on the 1st day of 2013; a noun in apposition.
Biology. This new species was confirmed to be associated with Saebania sp. ( Fabaceae : Mimosoideae ). In Bangkok, this plant is often mixed with Leucaena sp. ( Fabaceae : Mimosoideae ), but the phyline has not been found from the latter (on which C. livida and/or C. lividicornis may occur, instead of C. pimai ). A bivoltine life cycle is assumed for C. pimai , as adults were found in either January or June and are yet to be found in other months at the same locality. The final instar immature exhibits vivid green coloration similar to the adult ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 H).
Holotype: ♂, THAILAND: Bangkok: Prawet, Ramkamhaen, 13˚40'30”N, 100˚41'29”E, on Saebania sp., 1 Jan 2013, T. Yasunaga, B. Shishido ( AMNH _PBI 00379902) ( DOA).
