ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1873c: 103.

TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani gave no type locality in his original description but presumably it is Parma (Italy) because he collected the material.

TYPE MATERIAL: 3 ♂♂, syntypes ( MZUF: Box 38): Camarota Mgn / cerealis Rndn. / 2034; 1 specimen, syntype (sex not determinable, abdomen not visible) ( MZUF: Box 38): Camarota Mgn / cerealis Rndn. / 2034 / Gallia; 1 ♀, syntype (glued to a cardboard) ( OUMNH General Collection): Type / Camarota cerealis Ex. Coll. Big. / C. cerealis var. flavipes Meig. Europa, Rondani.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Camarota curvipennis (Latreille, 1805) View in CoL ( Nartshuk 1984b: 261, Canzoneri et al. 1995: 17).

REMARKS: Rondani (1873c: 103) described Camarota cerealis without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, despite there being five specimens in the type series found in this study. We consider the five specimens as syntypes. O’Hara et al. (2011: 207) listed the species as “ ceralis ”, which is an incorrect subsequent spelling.
