Filaments endogloeic, in the mucilage of benthic colonial cyanobacteria, solitary, up to 600 μm long, gradually tapering towards the ends to a fine hair-like cell. Sheath fine, hyaline, colourless. Vegetative cells at the base isodiametric or shorter than broad, up to 1.4 × longer than broad in the middle, 3.5–13.5 μm long × 5.2–12.0 μm wide, blue-green in colour; apical cells up to 3 × longer than broad, 1.5–2.7 μm wide. Heterocytes basal, hemispherical to conical, 7.5–10.5 μm long × 8.3–11.3 μm wide. Akinetes not observed.

Specimens observed:—Little Yabba Ck, Maleny Kenilworth Rd Crossing.

Observations:—Growing within the mucilage of Cylindrospermum stagnale colonies attached to granitic rocks in small coastal streams.
