Hexacharis neuropterophaga Díaz, 1979: 38 n. syn. Aegilips neuropterophaga: Díaz, 1986: 112 –113
Studied material. Type material: Calofigites nitidus : (1Ƥ). Holotype examined material deposited in ( ZIN). HOLOTYPE with the following labels: “ Perú, lago Titicaca, Laudinger V.” (green label, handwritten); “28” (white label); “ Type ” (red label); “ Calofigites nitidus Kieff ” (White label, handwritten); “Zool. Mus. Berlin” (white label); Holotype Calofigites nitidus Ƥ Kieffer, 1909 JP-V det-2009 (red label). Additional material: 1 Ƥ (deposited in the MNHN-Chile), Osorno ( Chile), Fundo Porvenir, Enero de 1981, D. Jackson col., en Rhaphithammus spinosus.
Comments: This species is characterized by a smooth, shiny, glabrous body, scutellar foveae absent, malar area smooth without malar sulcus, propodeum completely rugose, and mesopleuron with a longitudinal groove. The Calofigites type is in poor condition, lacking head and antennae. After examining H. neuropterophaga and C. nitidus type material, and its original description of the antenna and head, we conclude that the species should be included in the genus Calofigites . The type species of this genus, C. nitidus , is morphologically identical to H. neuropterophaga , so we suggest synonymizing these species.
Biology: Adults obtained ( Diaz 1979) in November from Sympherobius ( Neuroptera : Hemerobiidae ) larvae.
Distribution: Neotropical. Originally cited from Peru. Present on Argentina and Chile in this study.
