Distribution:— The eastern Himalayas, northeastern India, Myanmar, Thailand and southwestern China.

Specimens examined:— TENASSERIM. Type. MON. Mawlamyine District: icon. Day s.n. (Album no. 121, 1882) .
Distribution:— Southern Myanmar and Thailand.
Notes:— Seidenfaden (1997: 34) made Parish’s drawing the type of this species but argued that the actual plant specimen with the same number was different and represented D. compressum Lindl. In our opinion, the drawing and the specimen represent the same species. Variation in details of the labellum of the related D. platygastrium Rchb. f. was observed by O’Byrne (1994: 282), which illustrates that too much reliance has been placed on such details in this complex.

Distribution:— Endemic.
Notes:— A supposed natural hybrid between D. primulinum and D. aphyllum (as D. pierardii ; Rolfe 1916b: 96).
