Brachysomus longipterus Białooki, 2007: 162 . Type locality: North Macedonia, Osogovska Planina.
Redescription. For description details see Białooki (2007). In addition: Measurements: Body length 2.32–2.47 mm, width 0.90–1.12 mm. VW/ELD: 2.0–2.6; RL/RW: 0.93–1.00; PL/PW: 0.78–0.86; EL/EW male: 1.55–1.66; EL/EW female: 1.37–1.43. Abdomen: Male genitalia: Aedeagus heavily sclerotized through entire length. Median lobe 1.3x longer than apodemes, parallel-sided along most length, evenly narrowed only along apical 1/4, apex attenuate. Endophallus with large needle-shaped and small granuliform spicules. Ventral membranes rounded, transparent. Parameres vestigial, 0.5x as long as width of tegmenal ring, posterior margin of basal piece straight.
Description of female: Pronotum transverse (PL/PW = 0.78–0.80). Elytra broadly-oval, strongly convex. Punctures smaller than in male. Elytral interstriae weakly convex, shiny, 2x wider than striae. Spermatheca: ramus and collum connate at base, ramus 2x longer than collum.
Diagnosis. Brachysomus longipterus is similar to B. simplex from the Šar Planina Mountain Range in the head structure and sparse piliform vestiture of the body, but differs from it by the longer body (especially elytra), very curved male fore tibia; median lobe heavily sclerotized, as long as apodemes, parallel-sided, apex acuminate, (in B. simplex median lobe short, as long as 0.5x length of apodemes, apex attenuate); large needle-shaped spicules in armature of endophallus; and strong erect setae in elytralinterstriae. The shape and heavy sclerotization of median lobe and shape of head in B. longipterus resembles species of the B. hirtus group, but distinctly differs by the very sparse vestiture of the body.
Distribution. North Macedonia: Osogovska Planina.
Bionomics. This species inhabits the subalpine zone around 1600–2000 m a.s.l.
Material examined. NORTH MACEDONIA: 3♂, 2♀, Osogovska Planina, Sasa, Mt. Rujen [2252 m; N42°09′26.45″; E22°30′50.22″] (BRc).
