Brachysomus kratkyi Białooki, 2007: 154 . T ype locality: Hungary, Mátraszőlős env.
Redescription. For redescription details see Białooki (2007).
Diagnosis. This species is very similar to B. hispidu s and differs by the sparse, very narrow recumbent scales, erect setae 3x shorter than width of interstriae and wider median lobe. From B. fremuthi it differs by the robust antennal funicle and more swollen scape, the very narrow and sparse recumbent scales on the elytra and pronotum. The shape of the median lobe is generally as in B. fremuthi but the endophallic sclerite is larger and longer and the parameres are divided at the base. The shape of the spermatheca is variable and similar to B. hispidu s, with the ramus moderately small. From B. subnudus it differs by the broad median lobe (including apodemes 5.7x as long as wide).
Distribution. Hungary.
Bionomics. Brachysomus kratkyi inhabits leaf litter in Quercus and Fagus forests ( Białooki, 2007; pers. comm. A. Podlussány)
