Type locality. India: Bengal, coll. Dejean, Dr. Bacon.

Specimen examined (n=1). 1 ex. labelled “ longipalpis wied. ‘Bengal Western’” .

Description. Length 5.5–7.0 mm. Head, pronotum, first four segments of antennae, legs, markings on the elytra, scutellum, and region around scutellum reddish yellow, with head darker; eyes grey; elytra black; antennal segments 5–11 dark brown.

Head stout, wider than long, smooth, shiny, only a small patch of setae around the eyes, otherwise glabrous; frontal foveae shallow; eyes protruding; antennae long, slender, reaching the middle of the elytra, segment 3 the longest, longer than segments 1 and 2 combined; last segment of palpi oval, pointed.

Pronotum as long as wide, smooth, shiny, without any setae; disc with apical margin straight, lateral region of apical margin projecting forward, basal margin outwardly bi-sinuate; disc laterally with anterior half wide, posterior half parallel, hind angles pointed, forming right angles, not projecting laterally; median groove deep, reaching both apical and basal margin.

Elytra convex, symmetrically rounded, flat, moderately pubescent, with yellow setae; humerus rounded; apex rounded without re-entrant angle; scutellum small, narrow, pointed; striations weak, broad, rounded, intervals broad, flatter but rounded, rows of setae covering both striations and intervals; two reddish yellow markings, first a transverse band, in the middle of elytra, beginning from the lateral margin, extending up to first striation, second a triangular one, with base of the triangle over the apex of elytra, a narrow reddish yellow line running laterally, starting just above the median band and extending till the tip of apex of elytra.

Distribution. INDIA: Sikkim: Teesta Valley; Uttarakhand: Almora, Dehra Dun, Tanakpur, Haldwani, Garhwal: Jumnagwar, Boxar, Dikhwala; Bengal. MYANMAR: Senmigion, Myenkyan, Rangoon. AFGHANISTAN ( Hrdlička 2003, 2017). PAKISTAN ( Hrdlička 2003, 2017).

Remarks. A species with unique markings on elytra, having a reddish yellow median transverse band similar to the related genus Pheropsophus Solier, 1833 .
