Specimen examined. No specimens seen, description summarized from Chaudoir (1876).
Description. Length 8.5–9.5 mm. Head, pronotum, antennae reddish brown; elytra black; legs pale yellowish red.
Head stout, broad, glabrous, smooth; neck almost smooth. Eyes less protruding.
Pronotum as long as wide, glabrous, not exceeding the width of head with eyes; laterally convex, moderately narrowed before the base, hind angles not pointed, not projecting laterally.
Elytra convex, with faint, wide striations, having equally raised intervals; disc smooth with slight punctuations over the intervals.
Distribution. INDIA: Himachal Pradesh: Shimla.
Remarks. This species was described as Brachinus atripennis Chaudoir, 1876 , but diagnosed as a homonym and renamed as Brachinus chaudoirianus by Jakobson (1908).
