Remarks. B. meridionalis is a valid species described from New Zealand ( Sars 1904) and widely distributed in Australia ( Smirnov & Timms 1983). Recently it was found that similar forms are present in the Oriental zone ( Maiphae et al. 2005, 2008; Tanaka & Ohtaka 2009). Indeed, there are some populations from the subgenus Bosmina (Liederobosmina) Břtek, 1997 in India, which preliminay could be determined as B. meridionalis .
