Bolacothrips Uzel View in CoL View at ENA
The Old World genus Bolacothrips comprises 13 species worldwide, five described from Palaearctic, two Afrotropical, four Oriental and one from Australia ( Rozhina 2020). In the Arabian Peninsula, B. evittatus and B. graminis are known from Yemen (zur Strassen 1990), and B. jordani is new record for Saudi Arabia. The genus is a member of Thrips genus-group based on the presence of ctenidia laterally on abdominal tergites, and the lack of ocellar setae pair I. The genus can be recognized among Thrips genus-group mainly by simple sense cones on antennal segments III–IV.
