Berberis yingii Doweld View in CoL , nom. nov.
≡ Berberis longispina Ying (1985: 148) View in CoL , nom. illeg. non Miki (1937: 315) (‘ longispinus ’) (ICN, Art. 53.1).
Type:— CHINA. Tibet (Xizang), Tingri, alt. 4050 m, 27 May 1959, Anonymous collector 76 (holotype, PE 00935228!). Eponymy:—After taxon’s discoverer, T. S. Ying.
Notes:— Berberis longispina Ying (1985: 148) was described from Tibet (Xizang) and is in current use with no recognized synonyms ( Ying, 2001, Ying & al. 2011, Plant List, 2013 –onwards). Due to priority of the fossil B. longispina Miki (1937: 315) from the Pleistocene sediments of Japanese Archipelago (Nakayagi-Yagi, Akashi City, Hyogo Prefecture), which was based on a spine leaf imprint, a replacement name is provided here.
