Note. Due to the minor morphological differences and, at the same time, the high external and genital variability of the species, the status of this taxon is unclear. This question requires further investigation with other tools as molecular methods.
Diagnosis. The forewing length is 16.0– 16.5 mm in both sexes. Barsine striata hachijoensis differs from the nominate subspecies in the reduced postmedial lengthwise dashes and the reduced transverse lines (in most specimens). The male genitalia display no significant differences from B. striata striata . In the female genitalia, the corpus bursae is slightly narrower than in the nominate subspecies.
Distribution. Southern Japan: Ryukyu Islands ( Inoue & Minami 1963).
