Bakeriella reclusa ( Evans, 1969)

( Figs 127–131 View FIGURES 121 – 131. 121 – 123 )

Epyris reclusus Evans 1969: 188 (list), 322, 324 (key), 323 (figs 140, 143), 329, 331 (♀ and ♂ descriptions), 330 (map).

Bakeriella reclusa: Evans 1979: 261 (additional material); Gordh & Móczár 1990: 72 (catalog); Azevedo 1994: 145 (comment), 148 (additional material); Azevedo et al. 2005: 165 (comment, additional material).

Bakeriella reclusus [lapsus calami]: Evans 1979: 257 (list), 258, 259 (key).

Material examined. Holotype ♂: C[OSTA] R[ICA], Alajuela, 2.5 mi W La Fortuna , 1300', 18.II.1964, H. E. Evans col. ( MCZH, # 31624 ).

Diagnosis. MALE ( Fig. 127 View FIGURES 121 – 131. 121 – 123 ). Black. Mandible with five apical teeth ( Fig. 128 View FIGURES 121 – 131. 121 – 123 ). Clypeus with subrounded median lobe. Antennal scrobe wholly carinate. Frons strongly coriaceous. Vertex slightly convex. Pronotal disc with anterior corner angulate; anterior carina thick and straight; lateral carina restricted to anterior fourth, sharp; posterior margin paralleled by series of foveae. Scutellar pit rounded. Mesopleuron with subtegular groove sinuous; anterior fovea subtriangular; upper fovea elliptical; lower fovea with upper margin absent ( Fig. 129 View FIGURES 121 – 131. 121 – 123 ). Genitalia ( Figs 130, 131 View FIGURES 121 – 131. 121 – 123 ): paramere wide, apical margin inclined and almost blunt, basal margin inclined; cuspis divided into two arms, dorsal arm shorter and wider than ventral arm; aedeagus lozenge, ventral surface with conspicuous projection ventrad; base of apodeme very dilated and directed outward.

FEMALE [not examined]. Black. Mandible with five apical teeth. Clypeus with broadly angulate median lobe. Frons strongly coriaceous. Vertex slightly convex. Pronotal disc with anterior corner angulate; posterior margin paralleled by series of foveae. Scutellar pit subrounded.

Distribution. El Salvador, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Bolivia.

Remarks. Inner surface of paramere concave, spoon-shaped. I was not able to locate where the single female (allotype) is deposited. It is supposed to be deposited at University of Wisconsin (see Evans 1969), but according to Craig Brabant (pers. com.) it is not there.
