Lectotypus (designated here): JAPAN. Kii Peninsula, Wakayama Prefecture, Tanabe , 33°44′N 135°23′E, on living tree trunks of Prunus Mumé View in CoL , 24 Jul 1915, Kumagusu Minakata 390 B GoogleMaps (one slide BM s.n.!, BM001089998 ) .

BM s.n. one slide, KM.390B/ Badhamia capsulifera / var. repens GL / Tanabe 24.7.15/ 50/ XXXVII.48.50/ BM001089998.

NOTES: G. Lister (1918b) states that var. repens G. Lister , “creeping” is a plasmodiocarp form, gathered in Japan by Minakata, on living tree-trunks of Prunus mume , but in BM we did not find any of this material except one slide with the same date and place. In notebook XXXVII: 48 and 50, there is an illustration of K.M. 390B, which G.Lister notes is Japanese material received from Minakata Kumagusu on Sep. 8.1916. It is labeled “ Badhamia capsulifera ? var. repens n. var. ”, and so we have designated the slide as the lectotype. This variety is currently included in the concept of the species.
