Description.
Male. Body subovate, measurements (mm)¡ TL 2.6-2.8 EW 1.4-1.5; head and pronotum black, elytra honeyed-brown, ventral surface black.
Head black, finely punctated, with long, white, recumbent setation. Palpi entirely light brown; mentum with denser setation. The front with ocellus. Eyes large, with light microsetae. Antennae brown, with 11 antennomeres, antennomeres I-II, IX-XI dark brown, the others brown; antennal club with 3 antennomeres ( Fig. 1 View Figs ).
Pronotal cuticula black, finely punctated as the head, covered with long, white, recumbent setation. Lateral parts and the posterior part near scutellum covered with very long, white setation. Anterior angles not visible from above.
Scutellum black, triangular, finely punctated as the pronotum, with no setation.
Elytra finely punctated; cuticula honeyed-brown, covered with white and light brown, recumbent setation; light brown setation forms two isolated spots anteriorly, near scutellum, and one median, very narrow transverse fascia. Prosternal process black, broad and long, covered with long, white recumbent setation.
Mesoventrum and metaventrum black, with long, white recumbent setation.
Abdominal ventrites black, with long, white recumbent setation.
Legs brown, with white setation; tibiae with short, brown thorns.
Male genitalia ( Figs. 3a, b View Figs ).
Female. Externally similar to the male, but differs in the conformation of antennae ( Fig. 2 View Figs ) and in monochromatic, white setation on elytra. Measurements (mm)¡ TL 2.8-3.1 EW 1.5-1.7.
Differential diagnosis. By general appearance, the new species is very similar to Attagenus beali Zhantiev, 2005 ( Saudi Arabia, UAE), but differs from it in the conformation of antennae and male genitalia and in the colour pattern of elytra.
