Holotype, female, MLP 5057/1 [Puna, S. del Estero – 11-XII-1939 – Biraben–Bezzi cols.] [Holotype Atheas birabeni ] [ Birabena – birabeni – D&P] [C. J. Drake – Col. 1956] [ Atheas – birabeni – type Drake].
Remarks. Birabena birabeni is the type species of the genus (Drake & Hurd 1945). The holotype has the following label: “ Holotype Atheas birabeni ”; we suppose that it corresponds to a first intention of the authors never published.
