Asplenium micropaleatum M.Kessler & A.R.Sm., Candollea View in CoL 61: 308. 2006.
Range:— Peru and Bolivia (CO, LP).
Ecology:— Fairly common; terrestrial and saxicolous in humid forests; 1250–3300 m.
Notes:— Jonas (2011) was unable to find any consistent molecular and morphological traits (besides rhizome scale length) to separate this species from A. achalense . A similar, presumably undescribed species, but with larger leaves and much thicker, flattened rhizomes, is known from Colombia and Ecuador.
