Asplenium peruvianum Desv., Mém. Soc. Linn. Paris View in CoL 6: 271. 1827.
= Asplenium fragile C. Presl, Tent. Pterid. 108. 1836.
Range:— Mexico ( Krömer et al. 2015); Andes from Venezuela to Chile and Argentina. In Bolivia, in CO, LP, SC, and TA.
Ecology:— Common; saxicolous, mainly in rock crevices, rarely terrestrial, in high-elevation forests, scrub, and grassland; 2100–4500 m.
Notes:— Closely related to A. gilliesii ; numerous specimens show a mixture of characters of both species, but the more extreme examples of both species are clearly separable ( Weatherby 1931). It is probable that this is an unresolved hybrid/polyploid complex.
