Asparagus touranensis Hamdi & Assadi (2013: 44)

Holotype:— IRAN. Semnan: Touran Protected Area, 4 km E of Razeh, Chah Plang , near Andar Kuh , 1280 m, Freitag & Mozaffarian 28512 ( TARI, not seen).

We have not seen the type, but we collected a specimen from the locus classicus of A. touranensis in Touran Protected Area and included in our molecular phylogeny (Akhani 16562). This is a halophytic plant and seem to be conspecific with A. griffithii based on field studies and the result of molecular phylogenetic analysis in this paper.

The authors of A. touranensis ( Hamdi & Assadi 2013) cited four additional specimens from Khuzestan, Khorassan and Hormozgan: Khuzestan, ca. 40 km to Ahvaz from Andimeshk Ghaleh Sahar, 50 m, Mozaffarian 62229 ( TARI). Khorassan, Gonabad, 35 km of Bimargh to Ahangaran, 900 m, Faghihnia & Zangooei 22983 ( FUMH); Ghaen , N. W. Ghaen, 12 km Girmonge to Bihoode, 1750 m, Rafeie & Hoseinzadeh 30897 ( FUMH). Hormozgan, Bandare Abbas, 25 km from Senderk to Minab, 120 m, Mozaffarian, Rastegar & Banihashemi 38119 ( TARI). None of these specimens are cited by the second author of that article in the Flora of Iran ( Assadi 2023).
