Arnoglossus aspilos (Bleeker, 1851) —Spotless lefteye flounder
STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on AMS material (AMS I.16749-006). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Persian Gulf east to Philippines and New Guinea, north to Taiwan, south to Queensland ( Australia). Found on sand and mud bottoms, 30– 71 m. Marine.
Asterorhombus intermedius (Bleeker, 1866) —Intermediate flounder
STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on a specimen collected by W.-J. Chen, St. PD 68. NTUM material (NTUM 10148).
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Seychelles and Maldives east to Tonga, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found on sand bottoms, 1– 96 m. Marine.
Bothus mancus (Broussonet, 1782) —Flowery flounder, peacock flounder
STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on specimens observed by G. R. Allen. DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Red Sea, East and South Africa east to Mexico, north to Ryukyu, Ogasawara and Hawaiian islands, south to Lord Howe, Norfolk, Rapa and Ducie islands. Found on sand bottoms near coral reefs, 1– 100 m. Marine.
Bothus pantherinus (Rüppell, 1830) —Panther flounder, leopard flounder
STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on specimens photographed by P. Laboute on 11 Dec. 2012, and collected by W.-J. Chen. AMS, NTUM and USNM material (AMS I.16751-004; NTUM 10134; USNM 282665).
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Red Sea, East and South Africa, Madagascar Mascarenes east to Hawaiian, Marquesas and Society islands, north to southern Japan and Ogasawara Islands, south to Lord Howe and Norflk islands. Found on sand bottoms near coral reefs, 1– 100 m. Marine.
