Nomenclatural notes:— Hoehne (1927:54) incidentally named Aristolochia gibertii var. paulistana View in CoL as part of a taxonomic comment under A. gibertii View in CoL without formally describing it. He intended to relate the infraspecific name to two other specimens collected in São Paulo by A. Loefgren (1126, 1406), and then ( Hoehne 1942b) used as type specimens for A. loefgrenii View in CoL (1942a: 89) (see in A. loefgrenii View in CoL ).

Lectotype (designated here):— BRAZIL. Mato Grosso: margens do Rio Jaurú, desde Barrancão e Pedra Branca , November 1908 (fl.), F. C. Hoehne 719 ( SP 9513 barcode SP000415 !; the image of the lectotype is available at http:// plants.jstor.org/stable/viewer/10.5555/al.ap.specimen.sp000415).
Taxonomic notes:— Aristolochia jauruensis is a heterotypic synonym of A. weddellii Duchartre (1854: 62) (see Hoehne 1927).

Lectotype (designated by González et al. 2015: 46):— ARGENTINA. Formosa: “kilomètre 139 du chemin de fer”, February 1918 (fl.), P. Jörgensen 2341 ( SI No. 47404 barcode 000752!, isolectotypes GH barcode 0099203!, SI No. 063829 barcode 000751!).
Taxonomic notes:— Aristolochia ceresensis var. jorgensenii is a heterotypic synonym of A. ceresensis Kuntze (see González et al. 2015).
Aristolochia lagesiana Ule (1905: 119) var. intermedia Hoehne (1942b: 84) View in CoL , nom.inval.
Nomenclatural notes:—This variety was described whitout a latin description, diagnosis or reference to a previously and effectively published Latin description or diagnosis based on a specimen cultivated at the Jardim Botânico do Rio de Janeiro, and collected by Kuhlmann on 30 October 1930 (RB No. 41481! and SP No. 47061!). According to the Art. 39.1 of ICN ( McNeill et al. 2012), this is an invalid name.
Taxonomic notes:— Aristolochia lagesiana var. intermedia is a heterotypic synonym of A. lagesiana Ule.
