Araneus xiang Mi & Li , nom. nov.
Araneus arcuatus Mi & Li, 2022: 77 . (preoccupied nomen)
Etymology. The species is named after the Chinese Pinyin for elephant. The holotype locality was occupied by 17 individual elephants ( Elephas maximus Linnaeus, 1758 ) in 2021; noun.
Diagnosis and description. See Mi & Li, 2022: 77.
Remarks. Mi & Li (2022) established A. arcuatus Mi & Li, 2022 in the family Araneidae Clerck, 1757 based on specimens from Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, China, a nomen which is a primary homonym of A. arcuatus Clerck, 1757 (now in Evarcha Simon, 1902 of the family Salticidae Blackwall,1841 ), described from Sweden. Consequently, a new species name, A. xiang Mi & Li , nom. nov., is proposed here for the taxon from Yunnan, China.
