Measurement. BL= 2.87–3.25 mm; FBL= 1.38–1.75 mm; HL= 0.37– 0.51 mm; HWE= 0.52–0.77 mm; HWT= 0.52–0.77 mm; EL= 0.18–0.28 mm; TL= 0.17–0.37 mm; ETR= 0.62–1.11; PNL= 0.37–0.51 mm; PNW= 0.61–0.77; PNR= 0.61–0.65; ABDW= 0.67–0.75 mm.
Description. Body yellow-brown, head dark, elytra black and shining.
Male: Head (Fig. 1–1C) nearly rectangular, slightly broader than pronotum. Disc convex with deep furrows, deep mid-longitudinal sulcus and impressions. Clypeus convex, smooth and sparsely punctured, anterior margin straight. Epistomal suture with lateral portions running backwards to level of anterior margin of eyes. Front of head bordered by fine ridge. Post-ocular furrow marked, not reaching base of head. Temples dilated, with big punctures, about 1.5 times as long as eyes. Eyes big. Occipital furrow complete and curved forward.
Pronotum (Fig. 1–1C) trapezoidal, broadest at anterior 1/3, convex in middle, smooth, with less furrows, with loop-formed impressions. Mid-longitudinal sulcus straight, deeper at base, with two shallower and poorly defined paramedial sulci and two para-lateral depressions close to lateral margins. Posterior angles rounded but distinguishable. Sides running continuously. Elytra with punctures and longitudinal furrows. Abdomen with small punctures.
Sternite VII (Fig. 1–1E) with posterior margin weakly emarginate and attached long setae laterally, with two small tubercles in middle; Sternite VIII (Fig. 1–1F) with posterior margin broadly bi-emarginate and bearing long setae laterally, obtusely triangulate in the middle, not beyond lateral angles posteriorly.
Aedeagus (Figs 1–1H–J, 1–2A–C) oval, inflated at base and shortly narrowing to apex; apical orifice large and ventral orifice crescentic. Parameres (Figs 1–1K, 1–2H) arm-like, flat, closely situated, broad and contorted at apex, apical 1/4 carrying a row of setae; with large seta at 2/3 of length on ventral edge of each.
Female. Head (Fig. 1–1D) narrower than pronotum (Fig. 1–1D). Temples not dilated, as long as eyes. Sternite VII with posterior margin almost straight and unmodified. Sternite VIII (Fig. 1–2G) with posterior margin produced posteriorly to form broadly rounded triangle. Spermatheca (Figs 1–1L, 1–2I) with base bulb-like, with apical part stalk-like, narrowing to apex and slightly curved.
Distribution. China (Hubei, Yunnan).
Etymology. The specific epithet derived from two Latin words, sculpto and frons, to indicate the sculptured front of the head.
Differential diagnosis. This new species can be distinguished by the following characters: post-ocular furrow marked but not reach to base of head; pronotum with loop-formed impressions, posterior angles rounded but distinguishable; paramere with seta located at apex 1/3; structure and relative position of internal sac selerites (Fig. 1–2C, D).
