Amphora grevilleana Gregory (1857: 73) ( Figs 75, 76 )

Features: Length: 90–100 μm, width 18–24 μm, striae 12–14 in 10 μm on the dorsal side.

Description: Valves dorsiventral with shortly protracted, ventrally bent apices. Dorsal margin convex, ventral margin straight. Axial area very narrow near the apices, broadly widens in the middle third of the valve, central area absent. Raphe close to ventral margin, proximal ending bent dorsally.

Remarks: The observed specimens match illustrations given in the literature above but slightly different in having a less convex dorsal margin. Frustules appeared larger than reported.

Ecology and Distribution: Widely distributed marine species. Not recorded previously from the Gulf. Frequent in Basra corals.
