Type Locality: Russia, Altai Krai, Altai Mtns, near Lake Teniga.
Vernacular Names: Strelzow's Mountain Vole.
Synonyms: Alticola (Platycranius) depressus (Ognev 1944) ; Alticola (Platycranius) desertorum (Kastschenko 1901) ; Alticola (Platycranius) desertorum Ognev 1950 .
Distribution: Altai of NW Mongolia, Siberia, and Xinjiang in NW China ( Ma et al., 1987), west through Kazakhstan to Karaganda region.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
