Filaments fasciculated, heteropolar, blue green in color.

Sheaths colorless, firm and thin, commonly open at the end. Trichomes straight, slightly constricted at cross-walls. Cells isodiametric or longer than wide or occasionally slightly shorter than wide, 4.1-6.8 μm long, 4.6-5.4 μm wide. Apical cells rounded or rounded to conical. Hormogonia are separated by necridic cells.

Ecology. This species was isolated in greenhouse soil and biocrusts ( Fernandes et al., 2021), and in this study from gravel submerged in freshwater.

Distribution. San Francisco, California, United States of America ( Fernandes et al., 2021).

Site of collection. Site 2.
