Body length 3.5 mm, fore wing length 3.1 mm and antenna length 5.8 mm.
Antenna with 41 flagellomeres. Terminal flagellomere cylindrical and acuminate. Median flagellomeres approximaely 3 x longer than wide. Occipital carina complete, mediodorsally forming a point where it is somewhate weaker; joining hypostomal carina ventrally. Mesopleuron largely shiny with strong longitudinal striation, speculum large and polished. Midlongitudinal propodeal carina complete but irregular posteriorly. Fore wing vein 2-CU1 1.4 x 1-CU1. Apex of fore wing subbasal cell with narrow but distinct glabrous zone. Fore wing vein 3-SR 2.4 x vein r. Fore wing vein 2-SR+M 1.2 x vein r. Fore wing vein SR1 2.2 x vein 3-SR. Hind wing vein M+CU 1.5 x 1-M. Hind wing subbasal cell evenly setose. Hind wing vein m-cu represented by a reclivous, pigmented wing folf, interstitial. Hind coxa strongly obliquely striate basally dorsally and medially. Apex of hind tibia with well-developed comb of adpressed setae medially, but not ventrally. Claws with pecten of 4 brown teeth on basal lobe almost extending into gap between lobe and claw proper. Basal lobes of 1 st tergite weakly produced, anteriorly straight, weakly concave posteriorly. 3 rd tergite with midlongitudinal carina barely differentiated on anterior 0.2. 4 th tergite rather strongly emardinate posterolaterally, the lateral margin distinctly forming a tooth.
Etymology. Named after the resemblance of the shape of the metasomal carapace to the pitchers of the plant genus Darlingtonia.
