Description of Ahrensia marina HMG 3260

Cells are Gram-stain-negative, non-flagellated, and rod shaped. Colonies are circular, convex, smooth, and light pink after incubation for 7 days on MA at 25°C. In the API 20NE system, positive for cytochrome oxidase, esculin hydrolysis, and β -galactosidase; but negative for nitrate reduction, glucose fermentation, indole production, urease, arginine dihydrolase, and gelatin hydrolysis. Glucose, arabinose, mannose, mannitol, D-maltose, potassium gluconate, N -acetyl-glucosamine, capric acid, adipic acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate, and phenylacetic acid are not utilized as sole carbon sources. Strain HMG3260 (= NIBRBAC000509547) was isolat- ed from a seaweed sample at Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea.
