DESCRIPTION.

♂: length: 12 – 12.5 mm, breadth: 6 – 6.5 mm; ratio LB/lB (n = 11): 1.64 (1.64 – 1.83).

Slightly convex laterally, rather elongate, slightly bent, broader in middle of elytra; pale brown with head, apical teeth of protibiae and tarsi reddish brown.

Head (eye to eye) broad, clypeus trapezoidal, entirely reflexed, head except posterior margin totally covered with tubercles.

Antennae 10­ segmented, with club longer than funicle.

Pronotum rectangular, broader than long; ratio LP/lP (n = 11): 0.50 (0.47 – 0.51); sides regularly rounded from base to apex; all margins carinate, anterior angles slightly projecting and reaching posterior margin of eyes; punctate.

Scutellum subtriangular, punctate.

Elytra longer than broad; ratio LE/lE (n = 11): 1.33 (1.29 – 1.35), epipleura complete; costae slightly elevated; intervals strongly punctate.

Humeral and apical calli marked.

Pygidium laterally rounded, carinate, slightly projecting postero­ventrally and slightly surpassing apex of elytra.

Abdomen concave; short process at base of prosternum rounded.

Protibia tridentate, pro­and mesotarsal larger claw cleft; larger claw of metatarsus more than 3 times longer than outer one.

Upper and underside covered with close, short white, decumbent scales, slightly longer on head, pronotum and metasternum; short isolated yellowish erected setae on clypeus, longer on exterior margin of canthus to declivity of elytra, on lateral part of anal plate and on disc of pygidium.

Aedeagus: parameres short and broad, apex forming 2 dorsal and 2 ventral curved processes; dorsal processes strongly sinuate and touching apically, apex pointed; ventral processes strongly sinuate, apex squarish.

♀: length: 12.5 – 14 mm, breadth: 6.5 – 7.5 mm.

Differs from ♂ by: larger; body more convex; clypeus rounded; club of antennae shorter; abdomen convex, and pygidium projecting postero­ventrally.

DERIVATIO NOMINIS. Dedicated to Mr Marcel Cludts (Tervuren, Belgium) for his late and future work into the Department of Entomology of RBINS.
