( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 )
Material. ECUADOR: Galapagos: Santa Cruz , 3 km S. Bellavista, transitional zone, -0.72005 -90.32647, 115 m, 1–29.ii.1989, MT, [1f#, 3m# UCRC] deposited in UCRC under registration number UCRCENT00505707- 00505710 GoogleMaps .
Remarks. This material represents a second species of Ablerus present on the Galapagos. While easily distinguished from Ablerus byroni by the pigmentation of the antennae, head and fore wings, the longer first and second funicular segments, and the ovipositor, which extends beyond the apex of the gaster. There is no revision of the species of Ablerus in the New World, and it would be very difficult to evaluate these Galapagos specimens as distinct from the mainland species for the morphological characteristics which are very similar to some of the currently known species. Further investigation will be necessary to determine if these specimens represent an undescribed species of Ablerus .
