The species is common in bogs, but it also occurs in habitats with dense sedges, rushes or Typha( Larson et al. 2000). In Prince Edward Island, specimens were collected from a permanent pond with Nymphaeaand a Sphagnumbog (Table 1).  Distribution in the Maritime Ecozone.  Rhantus sinuatusis known also from the neighboring Provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia ( Larson et al. 2000).
