<spm:hasContent> Pachyphlodesspeciesoccur in the Northern Hemisphere where they form ECMs with hosts in the Betulaceae, Fagaceae, and Juglandaceae ( Piña Páez et al. 2021). Pachyphlodes thysellii(W. Colgan & Trappe) Doweld, 2013is reported from Minnesota, Washington, and Wisconsinin the USAand from Quebecin Canada(Rosanne Healy, pers. comm.) and now from Garry oak roots at LZ though it had not previously been reported from BC ( Kroeger and Berch 2017). A Trichophaeaspeciesis a well-known ECM fungus that associates with species of oak and hazelnut ( Rubini et al. 2011). At DN, we detected a Trichophaeaspeciesthat has previously been detected only in ECMs of Quercus wislizeniA.DC., Quercus kelloggiiNewb., and Quercus douglasiiHook. & Arn.in California(UNITE SH1651287.08FU). A second sequence that clusters loosely with our Trichophaeawas detected at SP; its closest match at 92.33% originated in a soil sample from the Arctic ( Timling et al. 2014).</spm:hasContent>
