In fact Madge (1967: 167) simply wrote that "at least one [  Metabola vividaBates] and probably both species of  Metabolaare variants of  Lebia pulchella." However, he did not list  Metabola rufopygaChaudoir in synonymy with  Lebia pulchella.  Metabola vividaBates, 1884: 298. Type locality: "Arizona; northern Sonora, Mexico" (original citation).
