Neotype (♂), designated by Lindroth and Freitag (1969: 337), in MCZ [# 33064].  Distribution. This species is found along the Atlantic Coast from Newfoundland (Lindroth 1955a: 70), the Maritime Provinces (Lindroth 1963b: 373), and the Magdalen Islands (Larochelle 1975: 55) to southern Florida (Peck and Thomas 1998: 18) and along the Gulf Coast to southern Louisiana (Summers 1874a: 81; Hine 1906: 76; Allen 1965: 65).
