Hill and Francis [ 173] reported that specimens from Borneo and Peninsular Malaysiaare similar in size, while Corbet and Hill [ 9] commented that size variation occurs within the species. Our NJ analysis suggested that the DNA barcode from Peninsular Malaysia(BM434-04) may represents a cryptic species ( Fig 6), however, we retain the name  P. brachypterusin our checklist pending further research.  IUCN status:Least Concern   Recorded at: Johor: Endau-Rompin National Park (BM434-04 was collected in year 2001 [ 4]);  Perak: Unspecified [ 23];  Selangor: Unspecified [ 23], Ulu Gombak [ 53, 54].    P. brachypterusroosts in tree hollows and has been recorded in primary and secondary forests [ 14]. 2960680441 [822,1039,1837,1861] Indonesia Padang district 46 47 1 Sumatera Utara
