The large to very large pseudoparenchymatous receptacle unmistakably defines this genus, along with other features related to perithecial morphology ( Santamaria 2004).    Remarks The genus consists of five species, of which two in Europe, one in Denmark. The most recently described species is  Z. vermiformis( Das et al.2018).  Zodiomyceswas an isolated genus in the Zodiomycetoideae ( Tavares 1985)until Santamaria (2004)redefined its status when two new related genera were described.
