The type material of this cryptic species was not available for examination, excepting online images. On the other hand, one of the paratypesof  S. castanocarpa, from IPA ( Krapovickas et al., 38749!), is ambiguous and similar to  S. brittonii León (1919: 172). The original description of this species is conflicting with the morphological variation presented in this study of  S. brittoniiand  S. harleyi Krapovickas (2007: 239), and has led to mis-identifications. Given the considerable taxonomic confusion and the need to verify which morphological characters are taxonomically significant by observing the type specimens of  S. castanocarpa, this species is excluded from the present study.
