The tree was nearly defoliated, as though the caterpillars had been very abundant previously. There is one specimenin U. S. National Museum and one in Bishop Museum, Fullaway, 1911.  This fine large moth has a wide distribution from Africa throughout the Oriental region to New Guineaand Australia, and to Fijiand Samoa.
