Caudices 3–10 cmlong, branched, densely spirally leafy in the upper half. Leaves fleshy, grey-green, conspicuously tuberculate with many crateriform glands, 10–35 mmlong and 1.0–3.0 mm broad, very small oblanceolate, apex acute, sometimes mucronate, retuse, flat or v-shaped in cross-section, with one central nerve, gradually tapering into the petiole. Stems 15–45 cmlong, slightly flexuous, tuberculate with many crateriform glands or verrucate with many crescent-shaped glands, slightly constricted at the nodes, branching begins near the base of the stems; sometimes proliferating in axils. Inflorescence narrowly trullate or obtrullate in outline. Sterile branches numerous, 2–15 cmlong, straight to flexuous, longer branches in the upper half divided. Fertile branches 3–20 cmlong, flexuous, slightly constricted at nodes, conspicuous tuberculate with many crateriform glands, straight to slightly curved, directed obliquely upwards, forming branching angles of 30°– 45°, in the upper half branched. Spikes 20–70 mmlong, straight, directed obliquely upwards; axis of spike conspicuous tuberculate with many crateriform glands. Spikelets 8.0– 9.5 mmlong, composed of 1–5 flowers, very remotely arranged with 1–6 per 2 cm. Outer bract 2.2–2.8 mmlong and 2.0– 2.4 mmbroad, triangular-ovate, obtuse; bract margin broadly membranous; central part slightly fleshy, sometimes only at the base, acuminate. Middle bract membranous, 2.2–3.0 mm long and 1.8–2.2 mmbroad, oblong-elliptic, rounded. Inner bract 6.1–7.2 mmlong and 3.6–4.1 mmbroad, oblong-obovate, rounded; bract margin more or less narrowly membranous; central part fleshy, 4.3–5.0 mm long and 2.4–3.0 mm broad, oblong-obovate, acuminate, forming a triangular tip, 0.8–1.5 mmlong, not reaching the upper margin. Calyx 6.0– 7.2 mmlong, exceeding the inner bract by 1.5–2.0 mm; calyx tube glabrous, with 5 ribs ending above the base of lobes; calyx lobes ca. 0.7 × 0.9 mm, triangular-ovate. Corolla pale violet.   Distribution:—Restricted to Rhodes, where it is very rare ( Fig. 93C).  Habitat:—Calcareous rocky coast.  Taxonomic remarks:—  L. quinniiis similar to  L. ikaricum,but differs from the latter by having a larger size, numerous sterile branches, and longer inner bracts.  Specimens examined:— GREECE. Dodecanese:Rodi, Akr.
