It was reported previously from insular Newfoundland by Bousquet (1991)( Fig. 4). It is probably a Holarctic species, generally distributed in North America ( Woodroffe and Coombs 1961). Woodroffe and Coombs (1961)noted that in Europe this species occurs on stored produce and it is possible that its North American distribution may have been influenced by commercial activities. In the Palaearctic region it is found throughout Europe, in North Africa, across the Middle East and Caucasus, through Central Asia, the Russian Far East, south to Japan, North Korea, and China. It is also found in sub-Saharan Africa and the Neotropical Region ( Johnson et al. 2007). It occurs both on stored products and in wild habitats ( Woodroffe and Coombs 1961).
