Journal of Natural History 2002 2002-04-30 36 5 617 629 [324,537,388,412] Insecta Tephritidae Chaetostomella Animalia Diptera 8 624 Arthropoda species undetermined  This monophagous species, reared from the ¯owerheads of  O. anisacanthumand  O. illyricum, is very similar to  C. cylindrica, but diOEers in having none, or small and faint brownish, spots at the base of the prescutellar setae, instead of shiny black spots around the base of these setae. The mesonotum has a faint, greyish or tan pattern and not the dark, black pattern of  C. cylindrica .Moreover, the aculeus is longer ( 1.7±1.95 mm; n515) than that of  C. cylindrica( 1.4 ±1.8mm; n515) and the aculeus tip is slightly blunter, although that diOEerence is di cult to appreciate without direct comparison of both species. The typelocality of  C. luridais Patara, Turkey, and proper identi®cation will require examination of reared series from that area as well as examination of the typematerial.
