Type Locality: Argentina, Tucuman Prov., Vipos, tableland above Ñorco.

Vernacular Names: Vipos Tuco-tuco.

Distribution: N Tucuman Prov. ( Argentina).

Discussion: Cabrera (1961) considered viperinus synonymous with knighti but Galliari et al. (1996) listed it as a distinct species.
