* Cresponea leprieurii (Mont.) Egea & Torrente View in CoL s.l. ( Fig. 2C View FIGURE 2 )

Cresponea leprieurii is similar to C. proximata (Nyl.) Egea & Torrente but differs by its longer [(34–)38–65 μm; 25–38(–40) μm in C. proximata ] and more septate [(8–)9–14 septate; 5–7(–8) septate in C. proximata ] ascospores ( Egea & Torrente 1993). The Bolivian specimens are often intermediate between both taxa and have long (35–58 μm) ascospores as in C. leprieurii but less septate [with (5–)6–9 septa]. Some specimens have yellow pruinose ascomata, while others produce epruinose ascomata, but in some cases both types of ascomata are present in one specimen. Therefore we have decided to assign all the material to C. leprieurii pending a molecular revision of this group.

In the Neotropics C. leprieurii has been reported from the Caribbean islands, Brazil, Colombia, Guayana, Mexico and the USA ( Vainio 1890; Egea & Torrente 1993).
