Additional material examined: 4 subadult males, 9 juveniles, 2 egg-sacs with same data as for holotype ( SMF). THAILAND: Chiang Mai Province GoogleMaps : 1 female ( PJ 897 , SD 1474), Chiang Dao, Tham Farangset, 04 July 1985, B. Lebreton leg., field number M01-71 ( RMNH) .

Etymology: The species name is derived from the type locality; adjective.

Diagnosis: Males of S. chiangmaiensis spec. nov. can be distinguished from other Sinopoda species by the combination of the following characters: 1. tip of embolic apophysis only visible in prolateral view, 2. RTA shovelshaped in retrolateral view, vRTA short, wide and serrated in ventral view, dRTA long and slightly curved, 3. slender spermophore in ventral view and 4. tegulum anteriorly with small swelling.

Females of S. chiangmaiensis spec. nov. are similar to those of S. lot spec. nov. ( Figs. 53 View FIGURES 53 a–b) and S. phathai spec. nov. ( Fig. 54 View FIGURES 54 a–b) in the characters mentioned in the diagnosis of the species group. They can be distinguished from S. lot spec. nov. by 1. epigynal field wider than long (longer than wide in S. lot spec. nov.), 2. lateral margin of epigynal pockets extending anteriorly of lobal septum (not extending anteriorly of lobal septum in S. lot spec. nov.), 3. distance between anterior ends of epigynal pockets nearly half the width of epigyne (nearly width of epigyne in S. lot spec. nov.), 4. sclerotised bulges with anterior part straight (anterior part rounded in S. lot spec. nov.), 5. spermathecae only fused at anterior part (posterior part of spermathecae partially fused in S. lot spec. nov.) and 6. glandular appendages straight and distal part bent laterally (curved in S. lot spec. nov.); from S. phathai spec. nov. by 1. sclerotised bulges situated only in anterior half of epigyne and anterior part straight (situated in posterior half of epigyne and anterior part curved in S. phathai spec. nov.), 2. distance between anterior ends of epigynal pockets nearly half the width of epigyne (nearly two-third of epigyne width in S. phathai spec. nov.), 3. spermathecae with anterior part short and median part without bulges (anterior part semicircular and median part with small bulges in S. phathai spec. nov.) and 4. glandular appendages with distal part bent laterally (distal part not bent laterally in S. phathai spec. nov.).
