Diagnosis. Scutum brown with 3 black longitudinal stripes, which are fused with each other entirely on anterior 4/ 5 of scutum. Scutellum brown except for sides black. Wing tinged brownish on anterior 1/2; R4+5 and M1+2 parallel distally. Cercus with a small incision on ventral margin. Postgonite with small incision on middle of distal end.
Description. Male. Body length 2.3 mm, wing length 2.2 mm.
Head black without microtomentum, 0.8 times as long as high; face yellow, somewhat concave in lateral view, without facial carina; frons black except for anterior 1/3 yellow, 0.9 times as long as wide, projecting only slightly in front of eye; gena yellow except for ventral margin black, broad, 0.5 times as wide as first flagellomere; parafacial indistinct. Ocellar triangle black, extending to 0.7 of frons, with a pointed anterior apex; ocellar tubercle light brown. Postgena dark brown. Occiput black. Clypeus light black. Cephalic setae and setulae black. Antenna yellow with thick grayish microtomentum except for basodorsal portion of first flagellomere dark brown; first flagellomere 0.8 time as long as wide; arista brown with short brown setulae. Proboscis bright brown to yellow with yellow setulae; palpus yellow with black setulae.
Thorax brown with gray microtomentum. Scutum as long as wide, with 3 black longitudinal stripes, which are fused with each other entirely on anterior 4/5 of scutum, medial stripe extending to anterior 4/5 of scutum. Thoracic pleuron shiny brown without microtomentum except for anteroventral portion of anepisternum and anepimeron, ventral 2/3 of katepisternum and posteroventral portion of katepimeron bright black. Scutellum brown except for sides black, 0.6 times as long as wide; ap sc developed, 2.5 times as long as scutellum; sap sc 1.4 times as long as scutellum. Setae and setulae on thorax black, developed; npl 1+1, a npl developed, p npl hair-like, 2/3 times as long as a npl; a pa developed; p pa hair-like, subequal to a pa; 1 presutural dc and 3 postsutural dc, the posterior one longer than others; katepisternum with an upcurved long seta. Legs yellow except for tarsomere 5 brown. Setulae on legs black. Mid tibia with a distinct black apical spur, which is longer than diameter of tibia; hind tibia with a short black apical spur, which is shorter than diameter of tibia. Tibial organ oblong, narrow. Relative lengths of 2nd: 3rd: 4th costal sections = 3.3: 2.3: 1; r-m at basal 0.6 of discal cell; R4+5 and M1+2 parallel distally. Halter pale yellow.
Abdomen brown with gray microtomentum except for tergites 1+2 and basal 1/3 of tergite 3 yellow; venter yellow. Setulae on abdomen black.
Male genitalia ( Figs. 15–18 View FIGURES 15 – 18 ): Epandrium brown with ventrodistal corner slightly prolonged; surstylus acute apically. Cercus nearly flat on dorsal margin, incised on ventral margin, the depth 1/4 of its height. Postgonite and pregonite subequal in length, postgonite with a small incision at middle of distal end; distiphallus longer than basiphallus in lateral view; phallapodeme long with basal stalk broad in lateral view. Hypandrium narrowed.
Female. Unknown.
Type material. Holotype ♂, CHINA: Guizhou: Leishan, Fangxiang, 1100 m, 31. V. 2005, Coll. Junhua Zhang.
Distribution. China (Guizhou).
Remarks. The new species is somewhat similar to A. coenosioides (Frey) , but can be separated from the latter by the following features: arista with short setulae; scutellum with 2 pairs of scutellar setae; legs yellow except for tarsomere 5 brown. In A. coenosioides , the arista is bare; the scutellum has 4 pairs of scutellar setae; the legs are predominantly black brown ( Frey 1923).
Etymology. The specific name is from the Latin tri- (“three”) and striatus (“stripe”), referring to the scutum with 3 black longitudinal stripes.
