Glyphotmethis holtzi brachypterus Ünal View in CoL , ssp.n.

( Figs. 1, 16; Table 1)

Type locality: Turkey: Konya, Çeltik. Holotype: male ( AIBUEM).

Material examined: 37 specimens. TURKEY: Konya, Çeltik, Torunlar Köyü , 840 m, 39°07’146” N, 31°47’570” E, 17.6.2002 , 17 ♂, 8 ♀ (including holotype); Eskişehir, Günyüzü, Hamamkarahisar Köyü , 900 m, 17.6.2002 , 5 ♂, 7 ♀, leg. M. Ünal & S. Mutun (all AIBUEM) .

Description and Diagnosis: Male (holotype): Pronotum ( Figs. 1a, c, e). short and broad with distinct tubercles; prozona high its lobes distinct; lateral projections of mesozona very distinct; metazona flat, very short and broad, its lateral margins straight; angular at apex; male tegmina ( Fig. 1a, c, e) very short, cover the first 4–5 abdominal tergites; axillary 1 and axillary 2 veins distinct and separated; distal excision of dorsal carina of hind femur distinct; inner side of hind femur strongly darkened with dark blue; inner side of hind tibia dark blue in basal 2/3, red in apical part. Male penis valves ( Fig. 1g, h) stout apically, their apices strongly curved upwards in lateral view, widened in posterior view; lophi ( Fig. 1i) with more than 15 dense spines, posterior projection of epiphallus ( Fig. 1i) concave in middle. Female: ( Figs. 1b, d, f) Prozona with distinct lobes; lateral projections of mesozona distinct; metazona flat, short and broad, only 1.4 times longer than prozona, 1.7 times wider than long; its hind margin angular; tegmina ( Figs. 1b, d, f) small, reaching hardly to end of first abdominal tergite, usually shorter in other females, narrowly rounded at apex; distal excision of dorsal carina of hind femur distinct, its ventral carina clearly wavy; inner side of hind femur blackish dark blue, its anterio-ventral margin (stridulatory lamellae) with a small red spot; inner side of hind tibia dark blue in basal part; apical 1/3 turns to red.

This subspecies is different from G. holtzi holtzi by the shorter and broader metazona, shorter male tegmina, darker inner side of hind legs (presence of much less red color), and its distribution. It is different from G. holtzi pulchripes by the larger body, flat shorter and broader metazona with its angular hind margin, shorter male tegmina, and its distribution. From G. holtzi turcicus by the larger body (especially in females), very distinct tubercles of pronotum, higher prozona and its distinct lobes, presence of lateral tubercles of mesozona, shorter and broader metazona, clearly shorter male tegmina (reaching always beyond hind knee in G. holtzi turcicus ) and its distribution. The coloration of hind legs is similar to G. holtzi pulchripes and G. holtzi turcicus but it is different from them by the characters given above.

Distribution: ( Fig. 16). Turkey: Konya: Çeltik, Eskişehir: S of Günyüzü.

Etymology: The subspecies name “brachypterus” is derived from “brachypterous” with short wing. This subspecies has the shortest male tegmina in the species.
