Diagnosis: Pronotum (Figs. 14a–d) with small, blunt tubercles; lobes of prozona and lateral projections of mesozona distinct; metazona slightly raised, narrow and short with a distinct median carina, its lateral margins slightly convex, hind margin angular; male tegmina (Figs. 14a, c, e) short, cover the first 2–3 abdominal tergites from above, its widest point about in middle or just beyod it; axillary 1 and axillary 2 veins distinct and separated; distal excision of dorsal carina of hind femur absent or indistinct, its ventral carina very slightly wavy; inner side of hind femur fully yellow or with a dark blue macula, remaining part yellow, with very slightly reddish pink stains in some specimens; inner side of hind tibia yellow or very indistinctly with pink stains; male penis valves (Figs. 14g, h) stout apically, their apices strongly curved upwards in lateral view, clearly narrowed in posterior view; lophi (Fig. 14i) with more than 10 dense spines, posterior margin of epiphallus (Fig. 14i) with a rounded projection.
This is only know species of Glyphotmethis in Greece and Macedonia. All the other taxa are known from the Asian part of Turkey ( Anatolia). This species is somewhat near to G. efe by the short and narrow metazona of pronotum, short male tegmina. But it is different from it by the smaller lateral projections of mesozona, raised metazona, distinct and separated axillary 1 and axillary 2 veins, shape of penis valves, yellow color of hind legs, stouter body and distribution.
Distribution: ( Fig. 15). Greece: Thessalia, Mesokhorion, Larissa, Mt. Ossa, Dhimitra–Anatoli, Magnisia, Cetral Greece, Attiki (Athens), Greek Macedonia, Serrai, Strimon river, Strimonikon, Khalkidhiki, Kassandra, Thessaloniki, Salonica, Lembet, Langadhas, Karaburun, Kilkis, Platania. Macedonia: S of Macedonia.
Remarks: Only the museum materials of G. heldreichi have been studied in this work. The detailed field trips are very important to distinction of the subspecies of Glyphotmethis and to see their distributional areas and contact zones. However, according to Willemse (1985 and personal communication) the subspecies of G. heldreichi macedonicus is doubtful because of variability among the populations. In the previous identifications, a part of the same population was identified as G. heldreichi macedonicus and the other part was identified as the nominotypical subspecies such as the specimens collected from the type locality of G. heldreichi macedonicus, Lembet (see material examined). Besides the differences of the both subspecies of G. heldreichi are much less than that of the Anatolian subspecies. Therefore, G. heldreichi macedonicus is synonymized here.
